Sean Parker, Facebook co-founder donate to legalise Marijuana in California

Sean Parker, one of the founders of Facebook will be giving away $100,000 for the legalisation of cannabis or what normally called as Marijuana. The group calling for the legalisation told that they were short of cash in the run-up to a vote.

Sean Parker, the person behind the most controversial file sharing program Napster and later became part of the founders of the Facebook portrayed by Justin Timberlake in the movie The Social Network. Parker came into the picture of the founding of Facebook when he went on to raise funds for the social networking site Facebook and became its first president.

Dustin Moskovitz, also founder and Top 4 youngest billionaire in America gave away a total of $70,000.

Drug Policy Alliance (group pushing the legalisation) spokesperson said to Associated Press : “What’s interesting here is that [Parker] is a member of the generation that really gets it. We think he’s pivotal to the future of drug policy reform in the country.”

According to The Guardian, the election will be on the same date of election for California Governer and congress.

The ballot coincides with mid-term elections for a new California governor as well as Congress. If cannabis or marijuana will be legalised in California day after the election, California will be the first state in the US to have cannabis legalised.

UK donates £12m to Pakistan’s flood victims

UK Charities earned £12 million worth of donations from British public for the victims of flood in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s experienced the worst flood killing approximately 1,500 people an increased of 46% after posting “800 pe0ple killed in Pakistan” for about two weeks.

The £12 million already provided emergency care, clean water, food or shelter to more than 600,000 survivors said Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

Meanwhile, United Nations also launched an appeal to raise £293 million for the country to continue their assistance to the an estimated seven million Pakistani flood victims.

Brendan Gormley, DEC chief executive said

“As flooding continues to affect millions of people in Pakistan, the British public are still giving generously to the DEC Pakistan Floods Appeal.”

800 people killed by flood in Pakistan

800 people killed and many are still missing due to heavy flooding all over Pakistan, government official Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said.

For more than 80 years, this has been the worst flood the Pakistan had ever experienced. Killing at least 800 people and destroyed numerous areas in the country.

Dr. Mehmood Jaa told The Associated Press : “Due to the floodwater, they now have pain in their bodies and they are suffering from fever and cough,”

Evacuees are now experiencing fevers, diarrhea, and marks appearing on their skin, causing itching, said by doctors in the northwest province of Nowshera.

Rescue working in the area told the Associated Press. “There are very bad conditions.” They have no water, no food.”

Rescue operation is slow due to large destruction, although they have been using army helicopters, boats, and heavy trucks to reach the affected areas.

Government official in northwestern Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa, Luftur Rehman:

“Our priority is to transport flood-affected people to safer places. We are carrying out this rescue operation despite limited resources,”

Also added that more helicopters and boats are needed.

UN also reported that there are at least 45 bridges were damaged by the floodwaters.
