Terry Jones’ action provoked Muslim community killing 12

Posted on 02 April 2011 by James Campero

Although Rev. Terry Jones promised not to burn Koran last year, last week Jones went ahead with his plan to burn Koran.

Rev. Terry Jones received world’s condemnation after announcing his plan to burn Koran. Unfortunately, it’s one those promises broken that a religious leader made. It has also been reported that Gen. David Petreaus warned that there would be consequences in places like Afghanistan where fellow religious lunatics look for any such provocation for bloodshed.

With Terry Jones action, the Afghans took 12 lives after proceeding to UN compound in Mazar-i-Sharif have paid for Jones stunt.

Three mullahs in the northern Afghanistan town told their followers this week to avenge Jones’ Koran-burning stunt, the New York Times reports.

Meanwhile, Terry Jones issued statement pertaining to the said incident.

“We must hold these countries and people accountable for what they have done as well as for any excuses they may use to promote their terrorist activities,” he said in a statement. “Islam is not a religion of peace. It is time that we call these people to accountability.”

Mullah Kashaf, member of the The Ulema Council,  said in a telephone interview:

“We expressed our deep concerns about this act, and we were expecting the violence that we are witnessing now,” he said. “Unless they try him and give him the highest possible punishment, we will witness violence and protests not only in Afghanistan but in the entire world.”

Egypt update:The Muslim Brotherhood is not seeking power

Posted on 09 February 2011 by James Campero

For the latest in Egypt, official said speaking at a press conference.  ”The Muslim Brotherhood is not seeking power,” “We will not have a presidential candidate, we want to participate and help, we are not seeking power,”
“We are not responsible for the speeches and statements of external forces.” Katatny added, “The regime has been using the Muslim Brotherhood scarecrow to tell the world that the regime is the only one who can safeguard the country, but this is wrong and it is their way to try to ignore the people’s demands,” CNN reported.
In a move intended to distance the movement from allegations that it is an extremist group, former head of the Muslim Brotherhood’s parliamentary bloc, Mohammed Katatny, said: “We reject the religious state.”
Despite warnings sounded from various world leaders, including the current Egyptian leadership, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tentatively welcomed the group’s participation in the negotiations over Egypt’s future.
During the 12-day crisis, three people were killed and 100 were wounded in the town of El Khargo in southern Egypt, 400 kilometers (240 miles) south of Cairo in two days of clashes between police and political demonstrators.
The mob responded by setting seven official buildings on fire including the local headquarters of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s ruling National Democratic Party.Associated Press contributed to this report.

Dove World Outreach Centre head Rev. Terry Jones cancels the plan on burning of Koran after the alleged deal to move New York Islamic centre further away from Ground Zero, which Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf denied. Rev. Terry Jones only suspended the plan on burning Koran

The cancellation made by Rev. Jones was only ‘suspended’ according to the pastor since the deal on moving the Islamic centre away from Ground Zero was just was just a lie. Jones plans to fly to New York and meet with ImamFeisal Abdul Rauf to discuss about the Islamic centre.

Rev. Jones told reporters “The imam has agreed to move the mosque, we have agreed to cancel our event on Saturday.” Accompanied by head of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, Imam Muhammad Musri. He added: “I, with [Musri], will be flying up [to New York] on Saturday to meet with [Feisal Abdul Rauf] at the Ground Zero mosque.” He also insists that it is guaranteed and says, “I asked him three times, and I have witnesses,”. “If it’s not moved, then I think Islam is a very poor example of religion. I think that would be very pitiful. I do not expect that.”

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said in a statement :

“I am glad that Pastor Jones has decided not to burn any Qur’ans. However, I have not spoken to Pastor Jones, I am surprised by their announcement. We are not going to toy with our religion or any other. Nor are we going to barter.”

Meanwhile, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said in a statement about the phone conversation of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Rev. Jones.

“Secretary Gates reached out to Pastor Jones this afternoon. They had a very brief phone conversation during which the Secretary expressed his grave concern that going forward with the Quran burning would put at risk the lives of our forces around the world, especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he urged the Pastor not to proceed with it.”

Rev. Jones to proceed with Koran burning,US Troops at risk

Posted on 08 September 2010 by James Campero

Christian pastor from Florida named Reverend Terry Jones insists on going ahead with burning Koran on September 11 despite the warnings from different US Government officials.

Yesterday (Sept. 7), General David General Petraeus told that the planned on burning the Islam’s holy book Koran would only spur coup for the Taliban in Afghanistan and invite Muslims around world to go against America. Gen. Petraeus said the action could “endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort” in Afghanistan. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the idea a “disrespectful, disgraceful act” as she condemned the action of the religious leader Rev. Jones.

In Rev. Jones refusals, he said “How much do we back down? How many times do we back down?” Added,  “Instead of us backing down, maybe it’s to time to stand up. Maybe it’s time to send a message to radical Islam that we will not tolerate their behaviour.”

P.J. Crowley State Department spokesman refute Rev. Jones plans and said that the administration hoped Americans would stand up and condemn the church’s plan.
“We think that these are provocative acts,” Mr Crowley said. “We would like to see more Americans stand up and say that this is inconsistent with our American values; in fact, these actions themselves are un-American.”
