Samsung’s Galaxy Tab latest iPad challenger

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab unveiled to challenge Apple’s iPad and the rest of the table PC industry.

India’s iPad like PC is still a prototype and Microsoft’s plan to compete with iPad are still far from reality, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab is considered as the real rival of Apple’s iPad. Samsung will unveil their latest product during IFA conference in Berlin.

Galaxy Tab is way smaller than iPad though, it weighs 380g (0.837 lb) compared to iPad about 680g (1.5 lbs) and screen size of 18cm (7in) screen while iPad have a 9.7-inch LED display. The device’ operating system is Google’s Android and hard drive capacity of 16 or 32Gb, expandable by 32Gb more. Available connections are 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-fi.

According to sources, Samsung is still working on similar device as it called Galaxy Tab as “the first of the company’s tablet devices”.

“Samsung recognises the tremendous growth potential in this newly-created market and we believe that the Samsung Galaxy Tab brings a unique and open proposition to market,”

Meanwhile, Vodafone will be distributing the device in European markets including the UK in October.  “Adding tablets as part of our device range is a natural next step that gives customers an alternative way to enjoy great content and internet services,” said Patrick Chomet of Vodafone. The company also says that the are “pleased to be introducing” the Galaxy Tab.

In the next coming days, we might be expecting a new iPad challenger.
