Good reviews has paid off to nail Inception into number 1 spot in weekend’s box office with $60.4 million.
It’s amazing and rare to see two original stories positioned at the top spot and not sequels, game, best seller books or comic adaptations.
Meanwhile, Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice was not even able to hit the second place (3rd place was not bad at all). Guess, blockbuster producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Nicolas Cage team-up failed to break their own records. The team who gave us the hit “National Treasure” and “The Rock”.
Also, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is the second movie of Disney this year that fall short from their target following “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” which was unable to crack the $100 million mark.
“We let all of the sequels and popcorn films come out and get the summer rolling, then we come in here with this original concept,” Fellman said of “Inception.” “We’re in a good place to run now for the rest of the summer.”
