Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hit box office with $125.1M

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been expected to hit last week’s box office number one spot since its opening. Based on ABC post last week, a forecast of above $120M gross sales will be earned by trio friends Harry, Ron and Hermione. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the second movie among the installments that opened with more than $100M.  In 2005, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opened in excess of $100 million having earned $102.7 million in its first three days. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows promotional strategies pays off to win the weekend box office.

Meanwhile, Dreamwork’s Megamind on its third week earned $16.2M to stay on top five of our weekly box office. Two weeks stay at number one without Potter is surely timely to earned its gross $109.5M.

At number third spot this week is Denzel Washington’s Unstoppable which is now on its second week earned $13.1M and now gross with $42.0M. Last’s weeks box office list just dropped the top three movies of one spot,at number four spot this week is Robert Downey’s Due Date. Due Date was last week’s number three dropping one spot and so with Megamind and Unstoppable when Potter arrived.

Wrapping up at number five spot is a newly opened The Next Three Days, starred by Russell Crowe and co-star Elizabeth Banks earned $6.8M to make it to the top five box office.
