NBA Hall of Famer’s not impressed with Lebron James

Posted on 22 July 2010 by Ian Villanueva

With all the news and talks about Lebron James pertaining to his decision to join Miami Heat, I can’t avoid to consider him the most controversial NBA player of my time.

For an NBA fan, I guess no one missed “The Decision” of Lebron James to leave Cleaveland and join Miami Heat which apparently received a lot of agreement and disagreement. Let’s not include the Dan Gilbert’s open letter of disappointment which shows how much he disagrees.

Johnson, Barkley and Jordan not impressed with Lebron James

Magic Johnson among NBA legends was not impressed with Lebron James decision in joining the Miami Heat. According to Bloomberg’s report,

Magic Johnson said he never would have joined with Larry Bird to win a championship the way LeBron James is teaming with Dwyane Wade.

“We didn’t think about it cause that’s not what we were about,” said Johnson, whose Michigan State squad beat Bird’s Indiana State team in the 1979 National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. “From college, I was trying to figure out how to beat Larry Bird.”

Barkley and Michael Jordan were the first two legends to disagree and were not impressed with James decision.

An interview of NBC Sports with Michael Jordan

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,’” Jordan said after finishing tied for 22nd in the American Century Championship golf tournament in Stateline, Nev. “But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.” Read more here

While Charles Barkley by Dan Bickley at Azcentral.com

“Let me just tell you this,” Barkley said. “Mike and I are in 100 percent agreement on this. If you’re the two-time defending NBA MVP, you don’t leave anywhere. They come to you. That’s ridiculous.

“I like LeBron. He’s a great player. But I don’t think in the history of sports you can find a two-time defending MVP leaving to go play with other people.” Read more here

James may have upset Cavaliers fans by teaming with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami Heat, let’s face it. The decision made by James is yet to be find out in the next coming season of NBA. NBA in the era of Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan was undeniably were the best but I guess the best year is yet to come.

Celtics vs Lakers at Game 7, Bring it on!

Posted on 16 June 2010 by Ian Villanueva

When was the last time an NBA Finals reached an intensifying Game 7? If the data is correct from Wikipedia, it was 2005 when San Antonio Spurs won over Detroit Pistons. Yet it was not fought between LA Lakers and Boston Celtics.

The two team are established during the early seasons of NBA. In 1947 to 1956 was Lakers reigning those years followed by Celtics from 1957 to 1969. The years Lakers and Celtics rivalries was at its peak in 1980 to 1990. It was the decade of Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird continued after their universities met in NCAA championship, Michigan University and Indiana State respectively.

NBA Finals Celtics vs Lakers at Game 7Scanning the history of Celtics vs Lakers, there are season worth noting. Years 1962, 1966, 1969 and 1984 was the seasons’ in NBA that finals reached game 7 and I guess it was really a great experience to have watched those championship and seeing Boston Celtics claiming those titles. This year is really fortunate not only by fans of both teams especially those who have not been born or were too young to understand the game. I was then 3 years old to watch the 1984 championship and guess would not love to watch it either way.

This Thursday at 9PM ET will be the greatest challenge to Celtics and Lakers. Who will be the one will draw another prestigious mark in NBA history? Will Celtics hit their 18th championship or Lakers for their 11th. Will Lakers be able to get their revenge after being swept by Celtics in 2008 NBA championship?

Let’s wait and see then. You can watch NBA 2010 Celtics vs Lakers Game 7 Live streaming here. This post will be updated once video streams are available.
