NBA Hall of Famer’s not impressed with Lebron James

Posted on 22 July 2010 by Ian Villanueva

With all the news and talks about Lebron James pertaining to his decision to join Miami Heat, I can’t avoid to consider him the most controversial NBA player of my time.

For an NBA fan, I guess no one missed “The Decision” of Lebron James to leave Cleaveland and join Miami Heat which apparently received a lot of agreement and disagreement. Let’s not include the Dan Gilbert’s open letter of disappointment which shows how much he disagrees.

Johnson, Barkley and Jordan not impressed with Lebron James

Magic Johnson among NBA legends was not impressed with Lebron James decision in joining the Miami Heat. According to Bloomberg’s report,

Magic Johnson said he never would have joined with Larry Bird to win a championship the way LeBron James is teaming with Dwyane Wade.

“We didn’t think about it cause that’s not what we were about,” said Johnson, whose Michigan State squad beat Bird’s Indiana State team in the 1979 National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. “From college, I was trying to figure out how to beat Larry Bird.”

Barkley and Michael Jordan were the first two legends to disagree and were not impressed with James decision.

An interview of NBC Sports with Michael Jordan

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,’” Jordan said after finishing tied for 22nd in the American Century Championship golf tournament in Stateline, Nev. “But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.” Read more here

“Let me just tell you this,” Barkley said. “Mike and I are in 100 percent agreement on this. If you’re the two-time defending NBA MVP, you don’t leave anywhere. They come to you. That’s ridiculous.

“I like LeBron. He’s a great player. But I don’t think in the history of sports you can find a two-time defending MVP leaving to go play with other people.” Read more here

James may have upset Cavaliers fans by teaming with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami Heat, let’s face it. The decision made by James is yet to be find out in the next coming season of NBA. NBA in the era of Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan was undeniably were the best but I guess the best year is yet to come.

Johnson, Barkley and Jordan are very competitive in nature. Para matest nila ang skills nila, ginusto nila na makipagcompete with each other instead na maging team mates. Dun nila masusukat kung gaano sila kagaling.

Sa case ni Lebron, statistically, he is the best NBA player today. No one could compare with him except maybe Kobe and Wade. Kaya lang, siguro nagsasawa na siya makipagcompete na wala naman siyang ring na nakukuha. The easy way is to team up with Wade and Bosh kaya sumali siya sa Miami Heat.

I don’t blame him for transferring to the Heat. It’s how he did with all the hype and “decision” thing that’s very unacceptable.

Mahirap din namang maging magaling lang siya pero ni isang championship ring wala siya. Ang aabangan natin is pano sila mag-complement pag open ng season, though maganda naman siguro performance nila nung Olympic ba yun?
